DG created a digital magazine to continue to support the JQBID’s community development through the Covid pandemic
Usually a print magazine, Digital Glue created JQ Life in a digital format which meant the JQBID was able to produce one of their main pieces of marketing collateral despite the challenges of the pandemic, proving their commitment to support the Jewellery Quarter business community.

Challenge
JQ Life is usually a print magazine that is distributed across Birmingham to local businesses, hospitality venues, and attractions. However, distributing a print magazine during the COVID-19 pandemic was not going to be successful as businesses across the city were closed, and footfall was extremely low. Social distancing and lockdown made it impossible to go out, interview and take photos of people for the magazine, as we usually would.
However, during the pandemic the need for the magazine was greater than ever both to celebrate the community of the JQ during this difficult time and inform people on how they can support the local community.
Response
Digital Glue proposed to create a fully digital magazine to continue to support the local community during the pandemic. This would allow the JQBID to maintain their marketing activities in promoting the Jewellery Quarter’s five pillars as a unique place to live, learn, work, visit, and invest. Interviews were done over the phone and the magazine was produced with imagery and illustrations provided by the local businesses. Team DG made it possible to create one of the JQBID’s most important pieces of marketing collateral, keeping the strong community bond within the neighbourhood.
